SEO examples that worked: real tactics and results

Good SEO examples show a clear problem, a specific change and a measurable result. Below are practical examples of title tags, local SEO, content, technical fixes, internal links and structured data, plus real results from our clients, such as an eCommerce store that grew from zero to about 70,000 monthly organic visitors.

Key takeaways
  • Simple on-page changes like titles and headings can lift clicks quickly.
  • Local SEO examples show the power of a complete Google Business Profile and reviews.
  • Content that matches intent and covers a topic fully outranks thin pages.
  • Technical fixes often unlock traffic that content alone cannot.
  • Results compound when tactics are combined and kept up over months.

What counts as a good SEO example

SEO can feel abstract until you see it applied to a real page, profile or link. The SEO examples in this guide show specific changes, why they work and how to copy the idea on your own site. Some are taken from common situations we see on client sites, written as illustrations with example business names. Where we mention our own results, we only state what the client achieved.

A good SEO example is specific, repeatable and tied to a result that matters to the business, such as more calls, bookings or sales, not just a higher ranking for a keyword nobody searches.

Results from our own client work

A few examples from our own work show what steady SEO can do. An online fragrance store, Scentira, grew from zero to about 70,000 monthly visits from search. Three local service businesses reached the top three in Google's map results in their areas: Orillia Window Cleaning in Orillia and nearby areas, Simcoe Home Solutions for window cleaning and exterior services in Orillia and nearby areas, and Bolt Movers in Barrie and nearby areas.

These results came from the same basics covered in this guide: clear service pages, complete Google Business Profiles, steady reviews, clean technical setup and relevant links. None of them came from shortcuts. See more on our SEO services page.

Why it works: each element now tells searchers and Google exactly what the page offers. See how to write SEO title tags.

Local SEO examples

Complete Google Business Profile

Choosing the right primary category, adding every service, uploading real photos and keeping hours current helps a profile show for more local searches.

Steady reviews with replies

Asking every happy customer for a review and replying to each one builds trust and activity signals.

Location pages with real local detail

A page for each area served, with local projects, photos and FAQs, beats a list of town names on one page.

Consistent citations

The same business name, address and phone number on key directories reduces confusion.

Our local clients Orillia Window Cleaning and Simcoe Home Solutions reached the top 3 map results in Orillia and nearby areas, and Bolt Movers reached the top 3 in Barrie and nearby areas, using these steps. Our local SEO checklist lists them in full.

Why it works: the strong version matches what the searcher wants and covers the topic better than competing pages.

Technical SEO examples

Professionals reviewing charts and a laptop to compare technical SEO examples by Top SEO Agency

Removing a stray noindex tag

A site that launched with 'discourage search engines' left on had almost no indexed pages. Turning it off and requesting indexing restored visibility.

Fixing redirect chains after a redesign

Pointing every old URL straight to its final page recovered links that were being diluted through several hops.

Speeding up a slow product page

Compressing images, lazy loading below the fold and removing unused scripts improved loading and Core Web Vitals.

Cleaning up parameter URLs

Adding canonical tags to filter and sort URLs reduced duplicate pages in the index.

Internal linking examples

Internal links pass relevance and help pages get found. A blog post about 'how to choose a wedding photographer' should link to the wedding photography service page with a descriptive anchor like 'wedding photography packages', not 'click here'.

Structured data example

Adding LocalBusiness schema helps search engines understand your business details.

eCommerce SEO example

For Scentira, an online fragrance store, we combined category and product page optimisation, keyword mapping, technical fixes and content. Organic traffic grew from zero to about 70,000 visits a month. The key was giving each category a clear keyword target and helpful copy, rather than relying on product listings alone. Our eCommerce SEO checklist covers the same steps.

Each example puts the main keyword first, adds one specific benefit and ends with a clear next step. Learn more in how to write SEO title tags.

Keyword targeting example

A home cleaning company had one page called Services that listed everything it offered. It ranked for nothing beyond its brand name. Keyword research showed separate demand for deep cleaning, move out cleaning, office cleaning and carpet cleaning in its city, each with different questions and price expectations.

The company split the page into four service pages, each with its own title, H1, process description, price range, photos and FAQs, and linked them from the home page and from each other. The old Services page became a short overview linking to all four. Over the following months, each new page began ranking for its own service and city searches, which the single page never could. This is one of the most common and effective SEO examples we see.

Content refresh example

A blog post titled "Gutter cleaning tips" from three years earlier sat on page two and was slowly losing clicks. Search Console showed impressions for questions like how often to clean gutters, how much it costs and whether gutter guards are worth it, but the post barely covered them.

The refresh added a direct answer at the top, a cost table, a section on gutter guards with pros and cons, a seasonal checklist and an FAQ built from those queries. Old advice was updated, new photos from real jobs were added and the post was linked from the gutter cleaning service page. The title changed to "How Often to Clean Gutters (and What It Costs)". Because the page already had age and some links, the improved version moved up much faster than a brand new post would have.

Featured snippet example

Featured snippets often go to pages that answer a question clearly in the first lines under a matching heading. A pet groomer wanted to appear for "how often should a dog be groomed".

They added an H2 with that exact question and answered it in 45 words: most dogs need grooming every four to eight weeks, with long coated breeds closer to four weeks and short coated breeds closer to eight, plus regular brushing at home. A short table of breeds and intervals followed. This answer first format is what search engines and AI tools like to quote. See AEO vs GEO vs SEO for more.

LocalBusiness markup example

Structured data helps search engines understand key business details. Here is a simplified example for a local service business.

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "HomeAndConstructionBusiness",
  "name": "ClearView Exterior Cleaning",
  "url": "https://www.example.com/",
  "telephone": "+1-705-555-0100",
  "address": {"@type": "PostalAddress", "addressLocality": "Orillia", "addressRegion": "ON", "addressCountry": "CA"},
  "areaServed": ["Orillia", "Barrie", "Midland"],
  "openingHours": "Mo-Sa 08:00-18:00"
}
</script>

Link outreach email example

Subject: Local guide for your members on spring home maintenance

Hi Sarah,

I run a small exterior cleaning company in Orillia and noticed your association shares seasonal tips with members. We just published a free spring home maintenance checklist with local advice on gutters, decks and windows.

If it would be useful for your members, feel free to link to it from your resources page. Happy to adapt it for your newsletter too.

Thanks,
Jordan

It is short, personal, explains the value to the reader and makes the request easy. (Example names.)

AI search example

A financial advisor wanted to appear when people asked AI tools "what should I look for in a fee only financial advisor". Their site had a sales page but no clear answer. They published a guide that defined fee only advice in two sentences, listed five questions to ask an advisor, explained fee structures in a table and named the author with credentials. The same facts were made consistent on their profiles and in a directory of advisors. This combination of clear answers, expertise and consistent information is what AI tools tend to cite.

Location page example

A moving company serving several towns had one page that listed all the towns in a paragraph. It ranked in the town where its office sat and nowhere else. The company built a page for each of its three main service areas, but instead of copying the same text and swapping the town name, each page described local details: typical home types, common moving routes, parking or access rules, and reviews from customers in that town, plus photos from real moves there.

Each page linked to the main moving service page and to the matching Google Business Profile details. Because every page offered genuinely local information, they could rank on their own without looking like thin doorway pages. This approach is covered in more depth in our local SEO checklist.

Product page example

A store selling hiking boots used the manufacturer's description on every product page, the same text found on dozens of other sites. The rewrite added a short summary of who each boot suits, honest notes on fit from customer feedback, a care section, a sizing table and answers to common questions such as whether the boot is waterproof enough for winter. Product schema with price, stock and reviews was added, and each product linked to a buying guide comparing boot types. The pages became more useful than competitor pages that only repeated the manufacturer's text.

How to turn these examples into your own plan

  1. 1Pick three examples that match your biggest gaps, such as service pages, reviews or titles.
  2. 2Choose the pages or profiles where the change would matter most.
  3. 3Make the change on one or two pages first.
  4. 4Record the date and the baseline numbers.
  5. 5Review results after four to eight weeks.
  6. 6Roll out what worked to similar pages.

Examples of what not to do

City pages with only the name changed

Fifty pages that are identical except for the town name rarely rank and can count as doorway pages.

Buying a link package

Hundreds of links from unrelated sites for a low price often get ignored or trigger a manual action.

Stuffing keywords into headings

Headings like "Best Plumber Leeds Plumbing Leeds Cheap Plumber" read badly and do not help.

Fake reviews

Buying or writing your own reviews breaks Google's policies and can lead to removed reviews or profile suspension.

How to apply these examples

  1. 1Pick your five most important pages and fix titles, headings and meta descriptions.
  2. 2Complete your Google Business Profile if you serve local customers.
  3. 3Rewrite one thin page to fully answer its main query.
  4. 4Run a crawl and fix redirect chains, broken links and noindex mistakes.
  5. 5Add internal links from related content with descriptive anchors.
  6. 6Add the right structured data type for your business.

How do I measure whether an SEO change worked?

+

Note the date, then compare clicks, impressions, position and leads for the affected pages in Search Console and GA4 over the four to eight weeks before and after.

Can I use these SEO examples on Wix or Shopify?

+

Where you can, yes. Small batches make it easier to see which change helped. For urgent technical fixes, fix first and measure after.

+

Case studies are detailed write ups of a project with results. Examples are smaller, specific changes you can copy. Both are useful when they explain what was done and why.

What SEO examples work best for service businesses?

Splitting services into separate pages, completing the Google Business Profile, building real location pages and asking for reviews consistently bring the strongest results for most service businesses.

"Increase calls from organic search by 30% in twelve months" is a clear SEO goal. It is specific, measurable and tied to the business, unlike "rank number one".

What is an example of a long tail keyword?

+

"How often should a dog be groomed" or "emergency plumber open Sunday in Leeds" are long tail keywords: specific, lower volume searches with clear intent.
